Scattering of ashes at sea is a relatively informal occasion of close family, and you should feel free to dress accordingly.
Safety . . . and what to bring
It is easy to get sunburnt at sea, so you should bring sun protection with you, a hat or cap, non slip deck shoes or trainers, and a warm jacket or fleece. A light rainproof jacket is also advised.

Your skipper will start the cruise with a safety briefing so everyone will know how to stay safe and what to do in the event of emergency. It is expected that all the crew will play their part in the safe handling of the boat and will follow the skippers instructions.
There is a fully equipped first aid kit on board, and as part of his Yachtmaster training, the skipper is first aid certified.
There is an automatically inflating lifejacket and harness for every member of the crew including smaller ones for children. The boat also come equipped with foul weather gear.
If the weather is likely to be dangerous, . . . . that is wind force 6 or above, for the sake of your safety and comfort we will not sail and you will be offered an alternative date or a refund, less the cost of any provisions that have been purchased for the day. The same applies if it is raining so hard as to make the cruise uncomfortable, but in this event the skipper may offer you a choice to sail or not. The skipper does not mind a bit of good English rain!
You should bring any medications you need with you, and inform the skipper of any specific health issues, especially if you are asthmatic, diabetic or have allergies.
Some fmailies like to take some photographs of the loacation and the vboat, so remember bring you camera, with fully charged battery if it is a digital camera.
